In court Friday for a preliminary hearing, Kendra E. Meaker followed the proceedings concerning her case without emotion. Public defender Robert McBride represents Meaker in court. Both listened as Judge Stuart Borden said that the full psychological report from Dr. John R. Day had been received by the court.
McBride immediately made a motion, “for it to be sealed.” There was no objection from States Attorney James Owen. Therefore, Borden ordered the fitness report sealed and stated, “I find the defendant fit for trial.”
McBride then waived the preliminary hearing and probable cause hearing, which were accepted by the court. At this point, Borden asked the defense to enter a plea and McBride simply said, “We plead not guilty.”
