The Stark County Rebels hosted West Central on Friday, January 22. This was the second conference game for the Rebels, and they won easily 57-29. It was an amazing environment for the game as it was B-strong night, encouraging everyone to wear their yellow B-strong shirt in honor of Mr. Glenn Buchert, high school advisor who is recovering from a stroke. West Central was extremely undersized, forcing them to play a zone defense. This opened up the 3-point shot for the Rebels, and Bryce Paxson was capitalizing on his opportunities hitting four 3-pointers. Paxson ended with 14 points.
The big guys in the post also had their way with West Central. Calvin Lewis had 13 points and Dillon Kelly had 8 points, both looked unstoppable at times. Tanner Ewing also added 8 points.

The “undercard” is usually the event before the main event in sports. It is usually less exciting and is more of an experience builder than anything. But Monday night in Princeville it was the junior varsity teams on the undercard that provided the only entertainment. There, the freshman and sophomore Lady Rebels battled the Lady Princes and held off a late surge by Princeville in the waning minutes to take a 42-38 victory.
A large crowd then gathered for the varsity game with Stark County’s representation almost double that of Princeville.
