The Stark County School district announced two district donations and two student scholarships at their regular board meeting Monday.
The State Bank of Toulon has donated $3,000 to the Stark County School District for new banquet tables.
“We think we can purchase about 45 of those new white lightweight tables in both six foot and eight foot,” said Superintendent Jerry Klooster.  “That will be very nice to have for special events.  We appreciate the State Bank of Toulon’s generous donation.”
The second donation is a Baldwin baby grand piano for the Stark County music room from Principal Domico.   The piano is about 75 years old and does need some minor repair work.  It will be permanently placed in the high school music room.   The Domico family has had the piano for about 20 years. 

On a 20-county “town meeting” tour of his district, U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Peoria) stopped Saturday at Connie’s Country Kitchen where he came out for an expanded guest worker program to help control immigration and for permanent repeal of the estate tax.
In response to a question from Ivan Donner of Toulon about the “immigration problem,” Schock declared that, “We have lost control of our borders” and called for stronger enforcement along our borders with Mexico.  
He added that many businesses, such as the hog slaughtering plant in Schock’s district in Beardstown, need workers who Schock believes can come from a well-managed guest worker program.
Lynn Newton of rural Wyoming recommended to the congressman a national voter ID card. 

The Wyoming City Council met Wednesday, August 11 at City Hall for its August monthly meeting.  The meeting was delayed for a day due to the unfortunate passing of Police Chief Bill Bauer.  The council reflected upon the death of the Police Chief by acknowledging his service to Wyoming.
Representatives from the 3 Sisters Antique Tractor Club were present to give a preview of this weekend’s upcoming event.  They were warmly received and the City gave their usual $750 donation to this event.  The representatives were pleased and announced that their intentions are to return next year and perhaps make this their home.
Rich St. John gave a Powerpoint presentation on the plans of the proposed Wy-Hi Community Center.  This group is preparing to finalize plans with School District #100 and begin the process of fundraising.  The goal is to raise money to renovate the old Wyoming High School Building and thus become a community center. 

A single vehicle accident during the day on Monday claimed the life of Wyoming, Illinois, native and attorney Richard Fehrenbacher.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Peoria County coroner.  The accident occurred on Feucht Road just south of Illinois Route 90 and 91 intersection.  
Fehrenbacher, who lives in Dunlap, grew up in Wyoming and practiced law there with his brother, Bruce, at Fehrenbacher & Fehrenbacher Law Office.  
Authorities report that Fehrenbacher was traveling north on Feucht Road at the time of the accident.  It appears his vehicle crossed the southbound lane, went into the ditch and struck the railroad trestle.  A passerby reported the accident.
