lThe Village of LaFayette held a public meeting to inform citizens of their intent to apply for a CDAP grant to pay for improvements of the water tower.  The water tower needs to be sandblasted and repainted as a standard repair and maintenance but the lead paint on the outside of the tower poses an additional cost.  The cost of the project is around $287,000.  The board agreed to come up with the required 25 percent, around $79,000, through a bank loan or additional grant funds.   While still in the beginning phases, this repair is greatly needed in the village.  The board hopes to not increase water rates to make the repair possible.
In other business, the board agreed to let bids for the park mowing.  The bids will be opened and awarded during the next regular business meeting on March 1 at the LaFayette village hall at 6 pm.
