Wyoming light project hits snag

wyomingThe Wyoming City Council held its March monthly meeting on March 9, at City Hall.
Audrey Herridge of 704 N Galena St made a request about a large hole in her alley preventing her from getting in the garage.  Superintendent Beck was asked to review and remedy.
City Engineer Dave Wright from Christopher Burke Engineering submitted a change order regarding the new water tower painting.  It is felt the base of the globe should be painted to retard and eliminate mold from accumulating.  Dave was asked to submit an itemized cost of doing so.
Bids for the new lighting project were opened in Springfield on March 3.  The lowest bid was from J.F. Edwards of Geneseo.  The bid was higher than expected which would increase the city’s share from $52,000 to $125,588.  Various ways are being explored as to a possible solution, including possibly re-bidding if time permits. 
Mayor Maher said the TIF Joint Review Board meeting was held on Monday. The meeting is a requirement of having a TIF District. All taxing bodies are invited to the meeting to review TIF Projects, discuss, and make recommendation from the Board to the City Council. As per the minutes of the meeting Jerry Klooster, Superintendent of the Stark County Schools said that the School District has lost in the neighborhood of $43,0000 because of the Wyoming TIF District and asked about an Intergovernmental Agreement to regain some of the tax revenue lost. Later that day he gave the City Clerk a letter and a copy of an Intergovernmental Agreement, which the council was given a copy. Klooster was given the City’s TIF Improvement Program Application. It was decided to send the information to Mike Weber from PGA & Viets.
A motion to replace the city’s lawn mower was made and approved.  The new mower will be a 2010 John Deere Model X700 with a 54” deck replacing a like older model.  The cost is $1,525 after trade-in.
City Superintendent, Joe Beck made a request to replace the culvert at 107 N. Main St, near the American Legion at an estimated cost of $1,000.00.  The request was approved.
The council advised the City Superintendent and the City Engineer to relocate the fire hydrant at 201 S. 7th St as it is too close to the house.  Additionally they were asked to make sure the lawn work from installing new water lines is being done as soon as weather permits.
Police Chief Bill Bauer was asked to investigate and resolve with the owners the potentially dangerous stairs on side of the building at 100 N 7th St.
