The Wyoming City Council met on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 for its regular July monthly meeting. There was no one absent.Kate Barton of Kewanee Housing was present at the request of Dennis Rewerts of the Stark County Economic group. Kate gave a overview of what was needed to begin any plan of having senior housing in Wyoming. Some surveys must first be completed to evaluate need and feasibility. The council took this under advisement and will continue to review. This plan is at the beginning stages and most likely will take some time to ascertain the validity. The board approved the downtown lighting subject to USDA approval, which should be known soon. A discussion was held regarding the repaving of East Thomas Street downtown. Costs and methods to pay were primary concerns. This involves overlaying Thomas from the downtown intersection going east one block. This would provide downtown Wyoming streets in new and pristine condition. Costs and bids will be forthcoming. The council approved a maximum amount of money ($4,000) for repairs to the alley behind City Hall. This age old drainage problem seriously needs some resolve. Councilman Joe Grey with the help of others, including Joe Streitmatter, came up with a workable and an affordable plan. A new sidewalk in Thomas Park is needed to accommodate the handicap to the restrooms. The council approved and recommended it should be done prior to the Corn Boil. Lastly the renewal of employees’ health insurance was approved. |
