schoolThe Stark County school board directed Superintendant Jerry Klooster to contact their attorney to find out what the district needs to legally do before selling or giving the old Wyoming High School Building to the WyHi group.
Committee member Rich StJohn was present to give an outline of the group’s proposal and to start contract negotiations for the building.
“We believe we have a successful plan to both rehabilitate and sustain a community center for all of Stark County, using the Old Wyoming High School Building,” said Rich St. John.
The group has hired Doug Hampton as a part-time coordinator and has established themselves as a not-for-profit organization.  The next step for the group is to secure the purchase of the building and start fund raising efforts for the rehabilitation and future operational costs of the building.  The Board will also contact the Regional Office of Education for the correct procedures.
The board will meet for their board retreat next Wednesday evening.  Dr. Harold Ford will be mediating the meeting.  The board also approved their annual meeting calendar; every meeting will be on the third Monday of every month in the music room at the Stark County Elementary School. The board updated their Risk Management Plan and changed activity bank accounts to reflect the graduating classes.
The next regular meeting will be on August 16 at 7 p.m.
