The Knox County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Cottage Road and Illinois Route 17 near Lake Calhoun on a report of a male subject dressed only in his underwear jumping on vehicles across the highway from the Lake Calhoun Golf Course. It was also reported that the subject damaged a rural mail delivery vehicle and battered the mail carrier. The mail carrier was not injured.“It took them over an hour for the police to get here,” one eyewitness stated. “He was running around screaming for a while.” The Lake Calhoun area is on the far side of Knox County and is 26 miles from the county seat of Galesburg, Illinois. Responding deputies located the subject, later identified as 34-year-old Christopher M. Colvin, 119 W. South Street, Princeville, Illinois, outside of a residence on Cottage Road. Colvin ran towards one of the deputy’s vehicles and threw a chain saw at the rear window. Colvin was subsequently taken into custody and transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Galesburg for evaluation. “It was intense,” stated one bystander. “We were all in a state of shock.” Charges against Colvin are pending. The Stark County Sheriff’s Department, Galva Police Department and Stark County Ambulance Service assisted. |
