Almost a week past her third birthday, Taylor E. Gunn died in an accidental drowning in a swimming pool in Wyoming Monday.Authorities had been called that morning to the child’s residence to help look for two missing children, both around the same age. Shortly after they were called to search, Gunn was discovered in a neighboring pool in the 500 block of N. Galena in Wyoming. The child was transported to Kewanee Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Parents of the child are Josh Gunn and Megan Sturtevant of Wyoming. Details about the incident are “sketchy” according to Henry County Coroner David Johnson. “She died of an apparent accidental death involving a swimming pool,” Johnson said. The Wyoming Police Department, DCFS and Henry County Coroner’s office are investigating the incident. The pool was above ground and inflatable. The only access point was a ladder at the side of the pool. Johnson stated an autopsy is pending and that an inquest will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are pending at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home in Toulon. |
