Written by Dustin Carlson

schoolStark County Rebels softball team lost in the opening game of their sectionals Wednesday, June 26.  After winning their regional, the Lady Rebels were playing good softball, but would fall short to Illini Bluffs 7-5.
The Lady Rebels played a fantastic game except for two innings.  In the third and fifth inning the Lady Rebels gave up three runs in each inning.  The three runs in the fifth inning pushed I.B. ahead 6-5, and gave them their first lead of the game.
Stark County was the away team and batted first.  In doing so they got one run and grabbed an early lead.  They would tack on two more in the second inning and Stark County was then up 3-0.
Then I.B. quickly responded with a three-run third inning to tie the game at 3-3.  Stark County answered with two more runs in the fourth to put them back on top 5-3.

Lady Rebels keep rolling
Written by Dustin Carlson
Wednesday, 05 May 2010 12:51
The Stark County softball team is really playing well as they shut out Mercer County last Tuesday 8-0.  The Lady Rebels completely shut down Mercer County and improved their record to 18-9 and 8-3 in conference play.
The Lady Rebels were swinging the bats very well as Danielle Kenny had 3 RBI’s – two came from a double in the first inning.  Brittany Price and Natalie Turner both had 2 RBI’s.  Price had one in the first inning to get things rolling and had another in the fourth inning.  Turner’s RBI’s also came in the fourth inning when she hit a triple with two girls on base.
Again Alex Nusz was phenomenal on the mound pitching all seven innings and only giving up 4 hits and no runs.  She got some excellent help defensively as Stark County committed no errors.  Nusz needed this help because she only struck out 4 batters.
As the end of the season starts to come into focus the Lady Rebels are really starting to play some good softball.
