Memorial benefit planned for Officer Bill Bauer

 A memorial benefit is being planned on September 11 for William (Bill) Bauer, Wyoming Police Chief and temporary Police Chief in Bradford, who was killed in an auto accident on August 6, 2010. The benefit will be held in Bradford at JD’s Bar. All proceeds will go towards a memorial headstone and scholarships.

State Bank of Speer makes $1000 donation to Henry-Stark Extension

State Bank of Speer recently donated $1,000 to the Henry-Stark Extension program to be used to support local 4-H and Extension programming in Stark County. County Extension Director, Jeff West, says that the bank normally makes an annual donation to support the local program, however this year in light of continued financial problems with the State, the bank was generous enough to increase their donation $700 over previous years.

Farm Heritage days a success

The 5th Annual Farm Heritage Days had wonderful weather to celebrate our farming heritage. The rains on Friday caused the cancellation of Saturday’s tractor pulls, but by Sunday the track dried out enough to hold all-day pulls. Special attractions included three steam engines, two were manufactured Avery engines, made right in Peoria. A tractor parade featuring over 50 antique tractors was present for the event. The Farm Heritage show is sponsored by the 3 Sisters Antique Tractor Club. They recently moved their event from the Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe to the Fairground in Wyoming.

OSF Healthcare to purchase Kewanee Hospital Home Health Services

Kewanee Hospital is pleased to announce that OSF Home Care Services, based in Peoria, Illinois, will assume the Kewanee Hospital HomeCare, Hospice and Home Medical Equipment (home care services), effective October 1, 2010. This change in ownership allows for more comprehensive home care services for the Kewanee community while also ensuring no loss of jobs for staff, according to representatives from both Kewanee Hospital and OSF Healthcare. Jennifer Coombes, Kewanee Hospital Chief Financial Officer, explained the decision to allow OSF Home Care Services to purchase its home care division as one of “caring for area patients’ needs first.”
