OSA EVENTS (CONTINUED)
We’ve pushed back the kiddie pedal tractor pull start time from previous years so more people can enjoy and take part in it. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the pull, sponsored by the Toulon Lions Club, begins around 5:30 p.m. “The Coco Loco Band” takes the stage Friday night at 7 p.m. Don’t miss this chance to see great entertainment! The very next night they are playing a concert in Peoria, but why pay? Join us for a free concert and you could even win money! The Old Settlers Association will be handing out free tickets for a chance to win a cash prize! Saturday is “Family Fun” day and it’s packed full of activities. We’ve tried to eliminate all the down times and have something to do all day. First, no matter if you’re a runner or a walker, you can take part in the Indian Creek 5K Run/Walk. Registration will start at 7 a.m. and the cost is now $20. If you’re not taking part, still come out and cheer on those who are on Main Street or along the route through town. The ¼ mile Kids Fun Run will take place at the conclusion of the 5K at about 9 a.m. It’s free, just show up and register, then run and take home all kinds of free goodies! The craft show in the Courthouse lawn starts at 9 a.m. and go-carts start racing at 10 a.m. The Toulon Fire Department and the Old Settlers Association has teamed up to bring this exciting event to town. Gather your friends and race them in ethanol powered go-carts! Cost is $5 for about a 5 minute ride and proceeds benefit the Toulon Fire Department. More food from local groups with the Lions Club pork chops at 11 a.m. and then the Kiddie Parade at 1:30 p.m. down Main Street and the main parade at 2 p.m. We have some exciting additions to this year’s parade, so plan on sticking around afterwards and checking them out! The Toulon Women’s Club ice cream social is at 3 p.m. in the park and inflatable games start then in the Courthouse lawn as well. Toulon-LaFayette alumni are gathering at the Indian Creek Vineyard at 4 p.m. and local musical entertainment and martial arts demonstrations start at 6 p.m. on the main stage and Courthouse lawn, respectively. The 2008 OSA pageant wraps up the night at 7 p.m. with the Miss Teen, Jr. Miss and Little Miss OSA on the main stage. Sunday is the last day of the Old Settlers and it starts off with coffee and donuts at 9 a.m. The OSA meeting and badge honoree speech from John Turnbull is at 9:30 a.m. The community church service will be at 10:30 a.m. on the main stage followed by the community picnic at 11:30 a.m. at Connie’s. Please bring a dish to share. Finally, the W.F.O. Mudslingers will hold a mud bog and four wheeler bog out at Gibler’s Ice and Concessions on Grain Bin Road. The event starts at noon and admission is $7. Please plan on bringing chairs for all events. The rain location for the band and pageant is at the Stark County High School gym. Sunday’s rain location for the meeting, speech and church service is at the Toulon Baptist Church.
