Frank W. Dunn
Kewanee—Frank W. Dunn Jr, 75, of
Kewanee, Illinois, formally of Wyoming, Illinois, passed away
at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Kewanee Hospital in
Kewanee, Illinois.
He was born in Wyoming, Illinois on December
15, 1932 to Frank Dunn Sr. and Mildred Tjaden Dunn. He married
Betty Gavin Laha on July 23, 1966 in Kewanee, Illinois. She preceded
him in death in 1999.
Surviving are two sisters Elsie (Filemon)
Leon, of Kewanee, Illinois and Margaret (Clifford) Cantwell, of
Toulon, Illinois, one brother George (Eleanor) Dunn, of Peoria,
Illinois; one step son James Laha; two step daughters Patricia
Carlson and Donna (David) Schaefer; several step grandchildren
and step great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents
and one sister.
Mr. Dunn served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 in Alaska. He was
a graduate of Wyoming High School, worked at Caterpillar for 31
years and was a lifetime St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday,
May 13, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Wyoming Funeral Home in Wyoming, Illinois
with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial was at Pleasant
Valley Cemetery in rural Wyoming.
Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society and American Lung Association.
John D. Hogsett
Princeville – John D. Hogsett,
75, a Princeville, Illinois resident for the past 51 years, died
at 2:32 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008, at St Joseph Mercy Hospital,
Hot Springs, Arkansas.
John was born on June 1, 1932, in Atlanta,
Missouri, the son of Omer V. and Ora Collins Hogsett. He married
Mary Lou Copas on April 21, 1955, in Liberty, Missouri. She survives,
along with five children, Omer Wesley (Gina) Hogsett, of East
Peoria, Illinois, Vicki Janette (Jack) Anderson, of Thornton,
Colorado, Cheryl Ann (Scott) Archer, of Mapleton, Illinois, and
Billie J. Hogsett and Curt Patrick (Kimala) Hogsett, both of Princeville;
16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
two brothers and a sister.
He served in the USMC during the Korean
Conflict and was a member of the Princeville American Legion Post
248. He worked for Caterpillar for almost 37 years, retiring from
the Mossville plant in April 1992. He was a proud member of UAW
974 for almost 53 years. His life centered around his family and
his church, Princeville Baptist Church, in which he was very active.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on
Friday, May 16, 2008, at Princeville Baptist Church. Pastor Lee
Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday
at the church. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Walter W. Fell
California - Walter W. Fell, 94, passed
away Friday, April 18, 2008, at Vineyard Hills Medical Center
in Templeton, California. Walt was born in June 1914 in LaMonte,
Missouri to George and Gertrude Fell. He was raised on farms in
Missouri, Illinois and Nebraska and was a third generation graduate
of Toulon High School.
Upon graduation, he served in the Civilian
Conservation Corps (CCCs). In 1936, he graduated from Lincoln
Flying School in Lincoln, Nebraska and earned an aircraft mechanics
certification, pilot’s license and instructors rating.
Walt barnstormed through the Midwest for
a time, then moved to California where he worked as a mechanic
and flight instructor at Clover Field in Santa Monica. In 1939,
Walt worked for Douglas Aircraft, where he was a foreman on the
construction of the first DC3. During World War II, Walt was a
civilian flight instructor of U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps
pilots in Carson City, Nebraska; Ogden, Utah; Safford and Phoenix,
Arizona.
In 1946 Walt moved to Paso Robles, California
where he worked as a flight instructor at Sherwood Field. He returned
to Toulon in 1948 and farmed with his father, George, and brothers,
Cap, Bruce, Dale and Donnie in West Jersey. In 1950, Walt went
back to California where he was named San Luis Obispo County Airports
Manager of Paso Robles Airport. By the time he retired in 1981,
he was the manager of all the county airports including Paso Robles,
Oceano and San Luis Obispo.
Other than flying, Walt’s passion was fly-fishing for trout.
Walt fished most of the major rivers in the Western United States.
He also fished in Alaska, Canada, Scotland, New Zealand and Patagonia,
Chile. Walt was a dedicated member of the Paso Robles and San
Luis Obispo Lions Clubs. He was also a member of the San Luis
Obispo Sportsmen’s Club, Santa Lucia Area Boy Scouts Council
and the American Association of Airport Executives.
Walt is preceded in death by his wife
Lucille Sullivan, parents George and Gertrude Fell, brothers Dale
and Donnie. He is survived by his brothers Bruce Fell, of Peoria,
Illinois and Cap (Sarah) Fell, of Galesburg, Illinois; sister
Helen Harris, of Victorville, California; son Bill (Adela) Fell,
of Castroville, California; daughter Pat (Bob) Fitz, of Lewisburg,
Tennessee; grandchildren Patrick Fell, of Seattle, Washington
and Rosalinda (Luke) Fell Santilli, of Lakewood, Colorado; and
great-grandson, Quin Santilli.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April
24 at Reis Chapel and burial was Friday, April 25 at San Luis
Cemetery, San Luis Obispo, California.
Grace Wooden
Princeville – Grace Wooden, 78,
of Princeville, Illinois, died at 8:36 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6,
2008, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
Grace was born on March 1, 1930, in Ottawa,
Ohio, the daughter of Clinton and Amanda Osborne Lighthill. She
married Thomas C. Wooden on November 22, 1952, in Angola, Indiana.
He survives.
Also surviving is one son, Thomas C. (Kristy)
Wooden, of Dunlap, Illinois; two daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Ehnle,
of Kewanee, Illinois and Terrie Patterson, of Princeville, Illinois;
five grandchildren, Chip (Cheryl) Wooden, Cory Wooden, Ryne Wooden,
Robert Ehnle, and Katherine Ehnle; and two great-grandsons, Paxson
and Kaden Wooden. Her parents, one grandson, Brent Patterson in
1998, and one brother, Joseph Lighthill, preceded her in death.
Grace was the assistant manager for Gary’s
Red Fox Supermarket for 25 years working in the meat and produce
departments as well as a cashier. She was a member of Princeville
United Methodist Church.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m.
on Friday, May 9, 2008, at Princeville United Methodist Church.
Rev. Rex Hendrix officiated. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial was
at Princeville Cemetery.
