Wayne L. McDowell

   Wyoming – Wayne L. McDowell, 89, of Wyoming, Illinois passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Kewanee Hospital in Kewanee, Illinois.
    Wayne was born on November 22, 1919 in Poweshiek County, Iowa, the son of John and Cecile Binegar McDowell. He married Marian Wolfe Steele on July 25, 1970 in Lacon, Illinois. She survives.       He is also survived by two sons, Terry McDowell, of Grinnell, Iowa and David McDowell, of Newton, Iowa; two step-sons, Larry (Joene) Steele, of Hopedale, Illinois and Steven (Deborah) Steele, of Lacon, Illinois; a step-daughter, Debra (Jeff ) Glisan, of Wyoming, Illinois; a sister, Frances Mincer, of Lakewood, California; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.
    He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kewanee, Illinois. He was retired from Eberle Fertilizer. He served in the 112th Radio Signal Intelligence Co. in the South Pacific in WW II. He was a life member in both the FOE Aerie 2545 for 60 years in Grinnell, Iowa and the VFW Post 2078 for 35 years in East Peoria, Illinois. Wayne was a retired member of the Teamster Union #627, Peoria, Illinois and Member of Voiture #768 40&8.
    Cremation has been accorded with military and graveside services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Illinois. Wyoming Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
    Memorials may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kewanee, Illinois or Wyoming Ambulance Service, Wyoming, Illinois.

Mary “Jeanne” Rennick

   Wyoming – Mary “Jeanne” Rennick, 82, of Wyoming, Illinois died at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
    Jeanne was born on February 22, 1926, in Odell, Illinois, the daughter of Peter and Irene Coleman Verdun. She married John D. Rennick on August 14, 1948. He died October 28, 1994.
    Surviving are two daughters, Anne (Charles) Rennick-Schoenheider, of Peoria, Illinois, and Julie (Tim) Main, of Galesburg, Illinois; two sons, John (Kathy) Rennick, of Peoria, Illinois, and Mark Rennick, of Cotati, California; 5 grandchildren, Dana Rennick, Laura Schoenheider, Sarah Main, Jennifer Main, and Nick Main; one sister, Ruth Ellen Verdun, of Peoria, Illinois; and one brother, Edward Verdun, of Odell, Illinois. Her parents preceded her in death.
    Jeanne received a Bachelor’s Degree in business from the University of Illinois, Champaign. She was a founding member of the Wyoming PEO Chapter and a founding board member of the Wyoming Ambulance Service. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Wyoming, and it’s Altar & Rosary Society, Wyoming Tuesday Club, Delta Zeta Sorority, and the Proctor Hospital Service League. Jeanne was President of the School Board for Wyoming High School for many years. Jeanne enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening, golf, and especially helping her family.
    Funeral Mass was at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Wyoming. Father Vien Van Do officiated. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2008, at Wyoming Funeral Home, with recitation of Rosary at 8 p.m. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum, Peoria.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Wyoming Ambulance Service or St. Dominic Catholic Church, Wyoming.
