Lady Rebels softball rebuilding

First win April 14 against Kewanee

By Joe Rediger

The Lady Rebels are off to a rough start in the 2008 season, starting with a 0-11 start. The Lady Rebels were able to break their losing streak with a 6-5 victory over Kewanee.
With a renewed sense of hope the young Lady Rebel team will look to improve on their record and finish the season out strong.
According to Coach Hippen, “Our young players are adjusting to high school softball, so were off to a slow start. Recently, our play has become much better and the girls are starting to have more confidence in themselves.”
With the leadership of the Lady Rebels three senior girls, Jenny Leezer, Jennifer Streitmatter, and Amanda Getz, the Lady Rebels look to be on track and with the pitching help of Natalie Turner and Taylor Wilkinson, who are both getting better on the mound with each appearance. The Lady Rebels are looking for more wins.
The Lady Rebels are a very young team this year with only 3 seniors, 1 junior, 1 sophomore, and 11 freshmen.
The roster is as follows: Amanda Getz, Jenny Leezer and Jennifer Streitmatter are returning senior Lady Rebels. The rest of the team consists of Courtny Gillam, Charissa Ford, Brittany Eaton, Nicole Fritch, Elizabeth Groter, Cheyenne Mallery, Katilyn Phillips, Brittany Price, Brittany Schaffer, Christiana Stoner, Natalie Turner, Taylor Willkinson and Jasmine Wyant.
The Lady Rebels are coached by Jarrod Hippen and Amy Wise.
