Turnovers help Rebels prevail

Stark County traveled to Aledo Friday night for huge game between the Rebels and the Golden Eagles. Both teams wanted the win to help build confidence and improve their standings in the playoffs; but, on this cold damp night the Rebels would win the turnover battle which propelled them to victory, 26-19. Turnovers hit Mercer County early, and they were extremely costly. The Golden Eagles received the ball first but on 3rd and long threw an interception. Senior Andy Kieser grabbed the ball out of the air and gave Stark County momentum early.
Rebels roll over the Trojans

It was another cold Friday night in Wyoming; however, neither the cold nor the Elmwood/Brimfield Trojans could stop the Rebels. Stark County cruised to a 48-6, victory improving themselves to a record of 6-2 which will guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.The Rebels scored early and often. Elmwood/Brimfield received the ball first, but a fumble – recovered by junior Matt Hollis – and a 22 yd. touchdown run, by sophomore Dalton Miller, put the Rebels on top 7-0 and only wasted 26 seconds in the game.
Terrible conditions help halt the Rebels

Friday night the Stark County Rebels traveled to Princeville to challenge the Princes; however, the biggest challenge was the field and playing conditions. After the game, the field looked like it was hosting a mud volleyball tournament rather than a football game. Princeville used these conditions to their advantage on their way to a 12-0 victory over the Rebels.

Two Stark County students will advance to Sectionals in Golf on Monday

Hannah Rowen (pictured at right) qualified for Sectionals this Monday at Highland Spring in Milan, IL. Rowen is the daughter of Curt and Melonie Rowen, of Toulon. This week she played at El Paso Country Club and ranked third overall and first non-team individual in the event.
