The Stark County District #100 school board approved two coaches for the new junior high baseball and softball programs. Pat Keane will lead the boys and Todd Derham will coach the girls.

A meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, July 8 at 9 a.m. for interested parents and children to register. Practice begins for softball on July 24 and baseball on July 31.

The board also approved Linzie Hood as new assistance high school volleyball coach and Bob Bohm as assistant high school girls basketball coach, in addition to Kyli Whittle as a new science teacher at the junior high for the coming school year.

Bids for services like bread, milk, trash and Rebel Reporter were approved. BIMBO Bakeries, Prairie Farms Dairy, Area Disposal and Stark County Communications were awarded those contracts, respectively.

The board did approve a temporary loan from fund two to fund six in order to cover the up-front costs of the Athletic Facilities Improvement Project. The loan will be repaid within 12 months.

Superintendent Jerry Klooster reported the search for a new superintendent is ongoing, but did not have a further update. Board President Bob Groter or Vice President Ann Orwig stated they would be in contact with the Illinois Association of School Boards for an update.

The next meeting of the board will start as the board’s annual retreat at 8 a.m. on July 17 at One Eleven Coffee in Wyoming. It is an open meeting and will recess at noon to be reconvened at 12:15 p.m. at the Elementary School music room.
