The LaFayette Village Board meeting commenced after Bartley’s statement. On the agenda were four items for action. An ordinance concerning gas service was tabled until next month. It concerns the new British Petroleum (BP) gas line that is projected to run through Henry County.

Another agenda item was the pipe line information. A questionnaire was sent to village officials asking that a survey be filled out concerning the pipe line that is tied to the gas service.

“Coal patch” to repair the potholes in the village’s streets were discussed. It was decided to purchase five tons at the unknown market price for the material to complete the intended purpose.

Playground equipment was the final agenda item. According to Trustee Bethany Peterson, it is unlikely the village will receive a 50/50 grant to fund the purchase of the playground equipment. The equipment would be placed in the village’s park for children two to five-years-old.

The board split the vote three to two concerning allocating $10,000 for the playground equipment’s purchase, if a matching grant can be secured. Trustees in favor were Larry Townsend, Bethany Peterson and Clarence Wagher. Opposed were Rick Shipman and Vicki McRell. Chris Smith was absent at the meeting.
