Henry/Stark Counties 4-H offers shooting sports, sewing and archery clubs in January

Build a new skill in the new year with 4-H! Henry and Stark Counties 4-H have special interest clubs starting in January on these topics.

4-H .22 Rifle Club – starts January 28

The Stark County Shooting Sports SPIN Club will be holding a .22 Rifle club beginning in January, 2018. It will be open to youth ages 10 to 18.  There was an orientation for the program on Sunday, January 7 at 2 p.m. in the Wyoming Masonic Lodge, 205 South 7th Street.  This orientation covered things like ammo/range cost and the times for the .22 rifle shooting dates.  The program will officially begin on Sunday, January 28 and run through Sunday, February 25.  The classes will be held at the Promised Land Firearms, LLC range (8290 Grain Bin Rd.  Toulon, IL).  Youth who are not currently 4-H members will need to pay the $20 enrollment fee.  If you cannot attend the orientation, please contact Karen Horsley at (309) 853-7081 or the Extension Office at (309) 932-3447.  You can register online at web.extension.illinois.edu/hmrs

Stark County 4-H Sewing Club begins January 21st in Toulon, IL

Stark County 4-H will be offering a sewing special interest club. It will be held every Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Toulon Library, 617 E Jefferson St, beginning on January 21 and ending on March 4.  It will NOT be held on Sunday, February 14 because of the Century Clovers 4-H meeting. Participants will learn the basics of sewing (sewing on a button, hand-stitching, cutting out a pattern), how to use a sewing machine, and how to sew on a zipper.  They will also have the opportunity to work on a community service project and a project of their own choosing.  There is a $10 supply fee to cover thread, fabric, and any other materials.  Members not currently enrolled in 4-H will be required to pay the $20 membership fee.  Come learn a life skill and possibly finish a 4-H project at the same time!  You can register online at web.extension.illinois.edu/hmrs or the Extension Office at (309) 932-3447.
