Toulon Civic to host Christmas light fundrasier cookout

This weekend the Toulon Civic Association is hosting a community fundraising cookout to raise money for new Christmas lights. The cookout will take place on March 10 from 5-7 p.m. at Connie’s Country Kitchen. The Toulon Lions Club will be doing the outdoor cooking part and grilling up pork chops, ribeyes and pork burgers.

Inside there will be baked beans and coleslaw, all for donation only.

“This is the kickoff to our fundraising campaign,” said TCA President Doug Parrott. “Our goal is to raise $10,000 before next Christmas.”

Kurt Loncka of Loncka Graphics in Toulon is redesigning the wreaths and is creating banners that can be changed throughout the year for various events. The wreaths will contain LED lights and will have an aluminum base, making them stronger and lighter. There were 20 wreaths, but not all light poles were decorated. Redesigning the wreaths and adding additional banners will ensure the downtown is festive come Christmas time.

Donations can also be made to the Civic Association via mail at PO Box 574, Toulon, IL 61483.
