The Galva Arts Council will host Daniel Watkins on April 14 at 7 p.m. Daniel Watkins is a talented bluegrass, old-time, and acoustic musician. This is the last Coffee House for the 2017-18 season.
Growing up next to the Illinois River, Daniel Watkins has always found inspiration in the river valley area. Influenced by John Harford, Norman Blake and Jerry Garcia, Daniel was just a teenager when he began sneaking into bars to play in various string bands. Since then he has shared the stage with the likes of Chicago Farmer and Henhouse Prowlers. Combining his flat picking and songwriting, Daniel weaves tales of life in the Illinois River Valley.
The Arts Council will also be taking some time to thank the volunteers that dedicate so much of their time, energy and money to make the GAC so successful. We invite everyone to come and show their appreciation to our wonderful volunteers.
An open mic will follow at 8:30 p.m. All area musicians, storytellers and other artists are invited to participate. A delicious dessert and snack bar with coffee will also be included.
Admission and refreshments are free of charge, but donations are suggested and appreciated.
