The week in Sports (5-17-18)

Five senior softball players and their parents were recognized last Thursday afternoon. Sydney Kunzle, Maegan DeWolfe, Mallery Pearson, Katie McCauley, and Delaney Johnston. The Lady Rebels went on to win their game too, defeating Monmouth-Roseville 18-6 with a powerful 3rd inning performance. Friday the girls won 9-8 over Bureau Valley in a make-up game. The Lady Rebels were scheduled to play against Williamsfield in the Williamsfield Regional on Tuesday night.


Three girls relay teams headed to state

The 4x400m relay team of Hope Hogsett, Josie Price, Lauren Jones and Ashleigh Williams qualified at 4:06.11. They are ranked second in the state, which is this Friday and Saturday in Charleston.


The 4x200m relay team of Hope Hogsett, Mckenzie Stahl, Lauren Jones, and Ashleigh Williams qualified at 1:49.31. They are ranked 13th in the state. The team is coached by Tim Carstens and Bob Rennick.


The 4x400m relay team of Brooke Rennick, Trinity Shimmin, Olivia Frail and Josie Price qualified at 10:23.41. They are ranked 12th in the state.


Rebel baseball draws to an end


After two lightning delays Monday night, the Rebels finally completed their regional game against Galva.

Galva struck first with a run in the first inning and then added three more while the Rebels scored just once for a 4-1 final.

Stark County finishes their season 7-21. Regionals continued in Toulon Wednesday night with Galva playing Ridgewood. Action continues tonight with Putnam County versus the Midland/Henry winner. The championship game is Saturday.
