Missionaries from Philippines at Toulon Congregational June 17

Rev. and Mrs. Jaime A. Julian, leaders of Christian Mission in the Far East, are visiting local Congregational churches and area supporting ministries the week of June 11, 2018.  The Julians will present the ministry of CMFE in Toulon at the First Congregational Church, 218 North Henderson Street Sunday, June 17 during 10:30 a.m. worship services.

For nearly 60 years, The Christian Mission in the Far East has ministered to the spiritual and physical needs of people in 24 provinces in the Philippines. The mission oversees 196 churches of varying size. Primary functions of the mission include evangelism, discipling, church planting, and training of pastors and church workers. The mission operates Bible Schools that prepare men and women for teaching, work in mission fields, youth ministries, evangelism work, and pastoral ministry.

Orphanages, called Gethsemane Children’s Homes are in operation in the Philippines. The Mission is also well known for providing pre-schools, elementary, and mission that educate the less fortunate in remote areas where no access to education would otherwise be unavailable.

For almost six years now, CMFE has worked to develop farms to aid in this ministry. With the help of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches Missionary Society and the proceeds of these farms, the ministry has been sustained. Due to a shortage of rice in the Philippines, these farms have become crucial.

The Rev. Dr. Toliver says, “Everyone is invited to attend and hear the Julian’s presentation and enjoy lunch following worship.”
