Top GOP official to speak Feb. 23 in Toulon

TOULON – A former top aide to President George H. W. Bush and present member of the Republican National Committee will speak Saturday, Feb. 23, at the News Room Bistro in Toulon to celebrate the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Prominent Chicago attorney Richard Porter is joining Stark County GOP Chair Mike Bigger, fellow Republicans and the interested public from 11 a.m. to 1:30 for luncheon, a glass of wine, and a fine lunch.

Tickets are $50 per person and checks should be made out to the Stark County Republican Central Committee, care of Mike Bigger at 107 N. 7th Street, Wyoming 61491.

Porter served as Special Counsel to the first President Bush and also held a number of other top posts with the President’s Domestic Council and the Department of the Treasury.

Porter is a partner in the global law firm of Kirkland & Ellis, which is headquartered in Chicago.

Bigger and Porter have worked together through Mike’s role as secretary of the Illinois Republican Party.

“Richard is one of the smartest and best people I have ever come to know,” Bigger told The News. “I am proud that he is coming to Stark County and I know that all at the luncheon will find his remarks inspiring.”
