TOULON – Doris E. Witte, 91, of Toulon, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Doris was born on Jan. 19, 1928, in Kewanee the daughter of August E. and Ida Cora (Norbom) Heavner. She married Harold Wendell Witte on Jan. 16, 1949, in Toulon; he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1993, in Peoria.
Surviving are two sons, Brad (Connie) Witte of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Brent (Paula) Witte of Camby, Ind.; one daughter, Beth (Charles) Jackson of Mahomet; eight grandchildren, Nathan Jackson of Ft. Collins, Colo., Brooke (Bob) Geraty of Normal, Darcy Witte and Alyssa Witte of Kewanee, Alisha (Ryan) Campbell, Christa Herald both of Indianapolis, Ind., Chase Witte of Tuscon, Ariz., and Andrea Witte of Glendale, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alayna, Makenna, Kayla, Cody, Darian, and Jessica; four great-great grandchildren; and a special niece, Gail (Alan) James of Grenville, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Bernard Witte; one brother, Edwin Heavner; two sisters, Loretta Drummond and Helen Nanninga.
Doris graduated from Kewanee High School in 1945. She worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Josef Unhold for over 25 years and volunteered at the Toulon Food Pantry. Doris cherished her family time, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, china painting and all kinds of puzzles. She was a member of the Toulon Congregational Church.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2019, at Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Toulon. Rev. Al Harmon will officiate. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
The family would like to especially thank the staffs at Fresenius Kidney Care in Kewanee, OSF Hospital & Hospice, Courtyard Estates, and Kewanee Care for the wonderful care that was provided to Doris.
