John D. Van Dran

WILLIAMSFIELD – John Dean Van Dran, 48, of Williamsfield, formerly of Toulon passed away at his home on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at 8:52 a.m.
John was born April 12, 1970, in Peoria, the oldest son of Russell and Mary-Jo (Lindenfelser) Van Dran. His mother recently passed away on April 4, 2019; his father survives, of Toulon. He married Julie Kaiser on May 24, 2017. She survives.

Also surviving is his son, Nathan Van Dran of Peoria; son, Jakab (Haley) Wright of Kingsville, Texas; one daughter, Payten (Micky) Wright of Carrollton, Texas; one brother, Joe (Liz) Van Dran of LaFayette and their son, Bryce LaFollett; aunt Sandy Ochs of Peoria and her children, Janet (Matt) Shipley and Michelle (Travis) Allen; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents.

John served in the United States Navy from 1989 to 1993. He was a proud union member of Local 353 Steamfitters in Peoria since 1994. He loved traveling with his wife, riding trails on his horse, “Four”, and riding his recently purchased Harley Davidson.

He was an avid gun collector and loved shooting. He also owned and operated Red Horse Property in Kewanee, alongside his wife. John left a legacy that will continue to live on in others, as he was a tissue donor.

His funeral will be on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Toulon. Celebrants, Veronica Haskell and Nicole Reed, along with Rev. Dr. William R. Tolliver will co-officiate his services. Burial with military honors will be in Toulon Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, April 11 from 5-8 p.m., also at the funeral home, with an additional visitation one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. A gathering of friends and family will follow the burial at the Kewanee Elks Lodge #724. All are welcome.
