Ronald N. Reynolds

DES MOINES, Iowa – Ronald N. Reynolds, 90, of Des Moines, Iowa, father of Cristin Wilson of Toulon, Ill., went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2019. He was surrounded by his wife, Alice (West) Reynolds and his loving family.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2019, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church, Ankeny, Iowa. Ron will be buried at a later date at the family cemetery in Whitten, Iowa.

Ron was born Feb. 24, 1929, to T. Frank and Olive Pearl (Nordquist) Reynolds of Whitten, Iowa. Ron had one older sister, Gwendolyn (Bob) Houser and one older brother, Stanley (Norma) Reynolds, both now deceased. Ron married the love of his life, Alice (West) Reynolds in 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa. To this union three children were born. Cheryl (Randy) Weisheit of Ankeny, Craig (Rene) Reynolds (deceased) of Berwick, Iowa, and Cristin (Mark) Wilson of Toulon, Ill. Ron also had nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ron graduated from high school in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended Iowa State University where he was the head baton twirler with the marching band, in Ames, until he was drafted into the Army in 1954. He was in the Army Signal Corp during the Korean War.

Ron learned to play golf when he was 14 years old, and played his entire life.

After the Army, Ron took a job with the Chamber of Commerce in Keokuk and Mason City, Iowa. In 1969, Ron worked at what is now known as Wells Fargo Bank in Des Moines. Ron retired in 1991.

Ron and Alice moved to Ankeny in 1969. They loved to spend time at their cabin on Holiday Lake in Brooklyn, Iowa, with family and friends where they could fish, boat, and water ski.

Ron and Alice retired to St. Petersburg, Fla. When Ron’s health began to fail in 2017 they moved back to Iowa.

Ron used the services of the Des Moines VA Health Care System for all his health needs. He received great care and entered their hospice program in May 2019.
