Following the detection of an outbreak of avian influenza in Masseube (Gers), a perimeter of 20 kilometers around the contaminated farm was placed in a “regulated zone”. 11 communes of Comminges are therefore concerned by this decree, of which here is the list: Boulogne-sur-Gesse, Gensac-de-Boulogne, L’Isle-en-Dodon, Molas, Mondilhan, Montbernard, Montesquieu-Guittaut, Nénigan, Péguilhan- Lunax, Puymaurin and Saint-Ferréol-de-Comminges.

For these municipalities, very close to the Gers, “all places of detention of poultry and captive birds are subject to specific prescriptions, indicates the prefecture of Haute-Garonne. In particular, the movements of poultry and other captive birds are prohibited, except exemptions granted by the departmental direction of the protection of the populations. Surveillance of farms has also been strengthened with “the performance of self-checks on animals and their environment”.

Consumption of poultry: no danger

These arrangements are made for a period of 30 days, and will be lifted only in the absence of discovery of a new case of avian influenza.

It is recalled that “the consumption of poultry meat, foie gras, eggs and other poultry products does not present any risk to humans”, recalls the prefecture.
