Fall Festival weekend arrives

The Fall Festival Drive will return to Stark County this weekend, with plenty of fun and excitement.

Wyoming will be starting things off early on Saturday, starting with registration for the Teddy Bear Trot 5K Fun Run at the basketball court at 7:30 a.m. The event will be hosted by Eagles Relay For Life Team and sponsored by Quality Cable, and will begin in the same location at 8:30 a.m.

Activities at Thomas Park will begin at 9 a.m., including craft and food vendors, open mic at the bandstand, paw prints at the park by Yer Kiln Me, and much more. Ventriloquist Karstyn & Trixie will perform at the bandstand at 10:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m.

Other activities that day will include “Rumble in the Park” bike show, a Diaper Derby baby race, petting zoo, dog pageant, and Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull. Contestants are also invited to the bandstand where they can register for the “Anything Apple!” Baking and Cooking contest at 1:30 p.m. The contest will be at 2 p.m.

Toulon’s Orwig Auction Center will be hosting a variety of activities and contests beginning at 9 a.m. A burnout competition will be at 10 a.m. with plenty of crafts, food and exhibits.

At noon there will be a Tug-of-War competition with a winner take all $1,000 prize. There is a $100 entry fee and it will be 10-man teams, double elimination, 3-minute pull, no weight limit. The auction center will also feature a mountain oyster fry, bluegill dinner and frog leg dinners beginning at 5 p.m.

West Jersey will only be participating on Saturday, with the Methodist Church hosting a bake sale, soup by the cup, garden produce and jumble sale from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will also be a flea market held at the township pavilion.

Sunday morning Wyoming Lion’s Club will have a pancake and sausage breakfast in the park beginning at 8 a.m. Loncka Graphics will perform chalk art at the basketball court at 10 a.m., and there will be a lip synch and dress contest with cash prizes at 12:30 p.m.

At 1 p.m., Banjovi Hawkins & Anne will perform at the bandstand featuring country, bluegrass and 1970s rock. At 2:30, there will be a nature walk at the Wyoming Depot, and “Battle of the Sexes” at 3 p.m.

Orwig Auction Center will begin its Sunday activities at 10 a.m., with free kid’s carnival games, a “Minute to Win It” adult obstacle course contest, one-on-one air rifle and archery training and a pedal tractor pull inside the auction center at 1 p.m.

Stark County After Prom will be serving a loaded baked potato bar and caramel apple slices. Orwig Auction Center will also be selling 10 different varieties of brats, as well as a variety of appetizers and select sandwiches.
