Lindstrom turns 99-years-old

By John Ballentine
A huge celebration was held for Lucy Lindstrom, of Galva, on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Mary’s Family Dining and Lounge, in Galva. Family and friends of Lucy helped her celebrate her 99th birthday on that date.

Lucy told The News that the most significant event of her 99 years was her family’s move from Arkansas to Illinois when she was just four-years-old. Her family was living near Redfield, Arkansas in Jefferson County when they packed up their belongings and settled near Galva, IL, in 1924.

Her parents, Stanley and Isal Jackson, are buried in the LaFayette Cemetery Lucy says. Closer to LaFayette, Lucy attended the country school of Fraker’s Grove, but attended Galva High School.

Lucy said, “I married a tall, handsome Swede by the name of Russell Lindstrom on May 30th, 1940!” The two have a daughter, Judy Huber, and a son, Russell Lindstrom. Lucy enjoys visiting with and seeing her nine grandchildren and her “too many to mention” great-grandchildren.

A faithful follower of our Lord, Lucy attends the First Methodist Church, in Galva.

Next Sept. 28th, come and help Lucy celebrate her 100th birthday.
