Lonny G. Dennison

Toulon – Lonny G. Dennison, 71, of Toulon, Illinois, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Lonny was born on June 10, 1943, in Toulon, the son of George E. and Jesse M. Cantwell Dennison.  He married Linda L. Stephens on June 30, 1967, in Toulon.  She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Rebecca (Mike) Mercer of Harrisonburg, Virginia; four sons, Stephen (Chris) Lucas of Kewanee, and Russell (Lori) Lucas, Tim (Tina) Lucas, and Lonny “Earl” (Dedre) Dennison all of Toulon; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Steve (Linda) Dennison of Altona, Bob Dennison of Broadmoor, Clarence Dennison and Rick (Cheryl) Dennison both of Kewanee, and Keith Dennison of Galva; one sister, Marsha (Rick) Neubauer of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.  His parents and one son, Randal Lucas preceded him in death.
Lonny first worked as a mechanic at Settles Ford Garage in Toulon for 18 years.  He later served as a police officer for 30 years; 20 of those years as the Stark County Sheriff, retiring in October 2002.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going for coffee at Connie’s Country Kitchen.  Lonny loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Toulon.  Rev. Al Harmon officiated.  Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. till the time of the funeral service on Saturday at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow services.
