Joyce L. Krans

Toulon – Joyce L. Krans, 86, of Toulon, Illinois, formerly of LaFayette, Illinois, died at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at her home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva, Illinois. Rev. Carl Wiggins, her brother-in-law, officiated. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, April 13 at the funeral home. Burial was in LaFayette Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Ira C. Reed Library, the LaFayette Methodist Church or the Stark County Ambulance Service.
She was born on August 20, 1928 in New Windsor, Illinois, the daughter of Wesley and Verla (Woolums) Carlson. She married Donald E. “Don” Krans on August 25, 1948 in Altona and he preceded her in death on February 7, 2009. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Jennie Yelm, Rose Lockwood, Donna O’Hern and Joann Bunn.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Krans of Kewanee, David (Terry) Krans of LaFayette and Julia (Chuck) Hanson of Oneida, five grandchildren, Lori (Tim) Self of Victoria, Stephanie Krans of Toulon, David (Kathy) Krans of West Jersey, Emily (Adam) McMaster of Oneida and Chuck E. (Samantha) Hanson of DeLeon Springs, Florida, seven great-grandchildren, Teryl and JoAnna Adams, both of Toulon, Alayna and Jake Stewart, both of West Jersey, Adelle Jae McMaster of Oneida and Karissa and Chandler Finn Hanson, both of DeLeon Springs, Florida; two sisters, Lola Mohr and Lois Pratt, both of Galesburg and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce had graduated from Altona High School in 1946. She had worked as a cook at the LaFayette School and then did housekeeping at Kewanee Hospital. She was a member of the LaFayette Methodist Church and the Methodist Women. She had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing genealogy, fishing, mushroom hunting and cooking and baking. She especially loved her children and grandchildren.
