A week ago last Wednesday, October 7, the Wyoming Area Chamber of Commerce met at the Rock Island Depot for its October monthly meeting.
The main topic was the upcoming Moonlight Madness event to be held on Friday night, November 20. This annual popular event kicks off the Holiday Season just prior to Thanksgiving.
The main event is the lighted parade and the goal is to obtain as many entries as possible. The Chamber welcomes anyone to enter regardless of being a retailer, any business, group, or even an individual. The goal is to have the biggest parade ever. If you have any interest contact any chamber member or email to [email protected]
The theme is a ‘Storybook Christmas”.
Secondly, a new event will be added, via The Peoria Area Tellers, offering different stories about the history of Stark County. This event is chaired by Cathy Breese and promises to be informative while entertaining as well.
Of course the appearance of Santa Claus is always a big hit for the younger people. Santa will be at the State Bank of Speer drive-in building this year. Santa will take requests starting at 5:30 p.m.
Other items on the agenda were the continuation of Best Yard of the Month through October and the Farmers Market which ended in September.
Discussion was held for the upcoming election of new officers for 2010 and 2011. A temporary slate was proposed consisting of: Dan Shockey, President; Mike Chlada, V-President; Jackie Hampton, Secretary; and Bill Morrissey, Treasurer. Voting will be in November with the final selection at the December meeting. Officers will assume office on January 1.
