Edith M. Martin

Princeville – Edith M. Martin, 91, a resident of Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Princeville, Illinois, died at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009, at Apostolic Christian Skylines.
Edith was born on April 8, 1918, in Speer, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel and Mary S. Kuntz Streitmatter.  She married Eli B. Martin on January 21, 1940.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 1949, in Princeville.  Also preceding her in death was a son, Richard L. Martin, and two brothers, Russell and LaVern Streitmatter.
Surviving is one son, Greg G. (Sandra) Martin, of Chillicothe, Illinois; two sisters, Gladys (George) Neal, of Speer, Illinois, and Bernadine Cambron, of Peoria, Illinois; two grandchildren, Eric (Lanette) Martin, of Watertown, Wisconsin, Kassandra (John) Verhusen, of Vail, Colorado; and one great-grandson, Brady E. Martin.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Hemmer Feed & Farm Service, Speer for 20 years.  She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and was active in its quilting group and choir.  
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Apostolic Christian Church.  Ministers of the church officiated.  Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.  Burial was in the church cemetery.
