The annual Stark County Elementary Parents Club dinner and auction was another huge success this year. A large crowd turned out this past Saturday at the WyHi Stark County Community Center to support the Parents Club and the work they do to enhance the educational experience of the students of the district. Besides the many classroom enhancement programs sponsored by the organization, the club selected upgrading the playground as this year’s goal project.
The evening started with a silent auction that consisted of many options for attendees to bid on. While the silent auction was in progress, the dinner was held. High praise was given by many of the delicious meal provided by PL Damrons of Kewanee.
After the meal concluded, the fun of the live auction began. Joe Orwig and his crew always make the auction a lively event while maximizing the bids coming in to support the Parents Club. Over $12,000 was raised during the live auction, alone. In addition to the silent and live auction, there was a cash raffle.
A nice addition this year was the table centerpieces. Vases hand painted by members of the community at Yer Kiln Me and filled with flowers from A Few of My Favorite Things not only added a nice look to the tables, but they were then auctioned off at the end of the evening for a special keepsake from the event.
While final totals for the evening were not yet available at press time, an estimated $25,000 was raised, making it another huge success for the organization and for the students of the Stark County School District.
