In the final item of new business on the Toulon City Council’s agenda, a statement from the council asking Toulon Mayor Rick Collins to resign was read.
The letter said, “in light of the incidents of the past few weeks involving you and the city employees, a city council person and a local business owner, the full council has unanimously agreed that it needs to issue the following statement.”
The statement, signed by all six councilpersons asked the mayor to resign from the position of mayor in the best interest of City business and management.
Collins’ response was quick and brief, “Ain’t gonna happen.”
After a long pause, he added, “chicanery and insults aren’t going to accomplish what you couldn’t do at the ballot box.”
