Wyoming – The Wyoming-Speer and Toulon Fire Departments were called at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday morning January 30, 2017 to a house fire located at 900 N. Galena Avenue, in Wyoming, Illinois. A young mother, Shelby Carter, 21-years-old and her 12-day-old baby were the only occupants.

Shelby had made an emergency 9-1-1 call, which was routed to Marshall County and then transferred to Stark County Sheriff’s Office. She heroically put her baby into a car seat and dropped the baby from a second level window to the ground.
