Kids age 11-16 can get trained to be a babysitter in a one-day clinic at Black Hawk College.
The Babysitting Clinic will be Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the college’s Community Education Center in downtown Kewanee. Cost is $55.
The clinic will cover what parents expect, such as how to handle emergencies, caring for and handling infants and young children, feeding techniques and diapering, age-appropriate toys and activities, tips for bedtime issues, basic first aid. Additonaly, how to handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents.
As babysitting can be a first job for many students, interviewing also will be reviewed.
A certificate will be awarded upon completion.
