Murderous riot subject of meeting

The Henry County Genealogical Society has announced that Floyd Ham, a member from Toulon, will present and discuss a long ago “Murderous Riot in Downtown Kewanee.” Ham says hundreds were involved and the reputation of Kewanee was seriously sullied when a riotous mob accosted, beat, bloodied and tried to “hang” a Geneseo provocateur.

Ham will present the background leading up to the disgraceful event, the catalyst and the immediate aftermath; including the trial of the principals arrested and the heroes who saved the night when “Hoodlums Ruled.”

This is a must see presentation if you want to know what happened, who was involved and how the event was reported both in Kewanee and the surrounding area.

This informative presentation will follow a very short business meeting of the Genealogical Society scheduled to be held on the second floor meeting room, at the Kewanee Public Library at 1:30, Monday afternoon, April 24. The public is invited.
